LVMH was created in 1987 through the merger of Moët Hennessy and Louis Vuitton, ushering in a new era for the luxury industry. Since 1989, Bernard Arnault has led the Group as the majority shareholder, with a clearly focused vision: to make LVMH the world leader in luxury. This vision is supported by an unprecedented portfolio of iconic brands, making LVMH unique in the world and a Group that has continued to grow and thrive since its founding.
Our Mission: The Art of Crafting Dreams
The world leader in luxury, LVMH is a family-led Group that has, since its founding deployed a business model focused on fostering the development of its Maisons while respecting their distinctive identities, heritages, and expertises. All LVMH Maisons craft products and services that strive for excellence and meet the highest ethical, social, and environmental standards. They all champion the Group's mission, The Art of Crafting Dreams.
Our Commitments: Responsible and Inspiring Luxury
Beyond the excellence of our products, LVMH is actively committed to a better world through strong and concrete initiatives:
Diverse by Essence, Inclusive by Choice: We support diversity in the workforce in all its forms and consider it as a huge strength that fosters creativity across all teams. We are committed to fulfilling everyone’s ambitions regardless of their gender and differences.
In 2019, LVMH signed the UN Standards of Conduct for Business on tackling discrimination against LGBTI+ people.
In 2021, LVMH signed the International Labour Organization (ILO) Global Business & Disability Network Charter to increase the number of people with disabilities into the workplace.
To be inclusive is not a luxury. It’s a choice. And it’s everyone’s business.
A Pioneer in Environmental Commitment: In 1992, LVMH became the first CAC 40 (French stock market index) company to establish an environmental department. The environmental policy has served as a cornerstone in the group’s approach to fostering growth. Today, our commitment remains as strong as ever, elevating our Maisons’ environmental performance through the LIFE 360 Program, which puts sustainable development at the forefront of all business policies.
Driven by our desire for environmental excellence, we focus on four pillars: Biodiversity, Climate Change, Creative Circularity and Traceability & Transparency.
Supporting communities and partner organizations: With our Maisons, we are the dedicated partners or sponsors of 55 NGOs, foundations, and associations around the world, including UNICEF, Save the Children and UNESCO. In 2019, we signed a 5-year partnership with the UNESCO Man & Biosphere Program to safeguard biodiversity, tapping into their network of scientific experts to drive the development of biodiversity efforts all across the world.
