Margaux, Europe E-Retail Project Manager, shares her experience as well as insightful advice for those interested in a digital career.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself

I started my career in another sector for several years, then I wanted to move forward and to change, to challenge myself. I decided to go back to school to study a Specialized Master's degree in digital / E-commerce and I had the opportunity to do an apprenticeship at Make Up For Ever. After 1 year, my apprenticeship turned into a permanent contract and I'm very happy about it!

Why did you choose to work in the digital field?

I am particularly interested in this sector because it is constantly evolving and in search of innovation. The fact that I can participate in this digital innovation is very rewarding! The projects I work on are really great and the tools developed by Make Up For Ever everyday are really exciting, stay tuned!

What are your day-to-day missions, and how did this change moving from apprentice to manager? Could you tell us about a particular project you’ve worked on?

As an apprentice, my role was to improve the user experience on our E-commerce website (digital innovation tool, brand expression, etc..). Nowadays as a manager, my daily missions are to ensure that our brand and our products are visible to our e-retailers website.

I spent a lot of time on a project I’m proud of: the new brand identity on our E-commerce site's product pages: they are much more immersive and detailed, with real advice from our pros, it's a great success!

Could you describe the work environment and team culture at Make Up For Ever?

The work environment is great and very stimulating! We’re in open space, I work with my colleagues around me, which is great when we need advice, inspiration or motivation. There is a real synergy between us, and this supports our productivity and well-being at work.

Could you describe three skills or qualities you need to succeed in a career in digital?

I think there are three essential skills to succeed in this field. Firstly, curiosity: follow up with new trends and what the competition is doing and know the E-reputation of a brand on the internet. Secondly, being interested in the culture and the world of digital (UI/UX, Data analytics, web, affiliate marketing, etc.). Thirdly, know how to manage your priorities by being organized.

What advice would you give to an intern or apprentice to prepare his/her next steps?

The most important thing is to be motivated, to make proposals, to show your desire to learn and to progress, that's what makes us evolve every day! I was lucky enough to have a great team that gave me very interesting projects and taught me a lot! I’m where I am today thanks to them!
